Tosubscribe and/or to read the news, go to:http://www.germnews.de
2. Ticks in Germany: a CU student who is currently studying in Germany wasbitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease. He is now fully recovered buthe wanted me to warn you about this potential health risk. I know theResident Director in Regensburg informs students there about ticks and Limedisease on site but if you'd like more information now, you can go to:http://english.bad-gmbh.de/leistungen/medizin/reisemedizin/zecken.shtml(German source)http://www.cdc.gov/travel/diseases/lyme.htm (U.S. source)

For those of you who do not yet read Maddox's site regularly, you should. Though everyone I saw the film with really enjoyed it, his most recent article on I, Robot is bloody hilarious! Makes my day every time.
CD Review of "The Cover Up" by Steph
Thank you Steph for letting me post this review on my site! Those of you who live in Boulder will be able to find more of Steph's work in the upcoming Daily Camera Publication "Dirt".
The Cover Up is the third release from I am the World Trade Center (IATWTC) duo Amy Dykes and Dan Geller. IATWTC had some rocky beginnings with press and public with their debut album released a few months before the Sept. 11th attacks. Dykes and Geller also had a romantic breakup and the band took another more recent blow when Dykes was diagnosed with cancer. However, IATWTC flourishes and continues to perfect their sound with each new album. On The Cover Up, Dykes provides sweet pop vocals over a dance-electronic beat and a voice reminiscent of Debbie Harry from Blondie. Geller also contributes electronic enhanced vocals on "Different Stories" and "Deny It". The lyrics sometimes reflect heartbreak, like on "Love Tragedy" or the rejection of mainstream culture in "Going Underground". The Cover Up is a consistent album breaking some new ground for the band by bringing a more 80's new wave club sound to their fans. They also incorporate various musical beats and synthesizer techniques to blend the vocals with the music. The catchy lyrics and energetic beat keep the listener entranced and dancing. Fans of previous IATWTC releases or those who enjoy bands like Ladytron and Depeche Mode will welcome this latest release.
Are Cats Capable of Revenge?
Alright, I must tell this story because its too interesting not to.
The set up: My grandparents are visiting, and were out at a concert last night. When they came home, they accidentally let our old cat outside. This would have been no problem in his youth, but as he's getting on in age, he's lost some tolerance. So when my granddad goes out to the driveway to pick up my Wall Street Journal (and you know how much I love that paper!), my cat walks over to it first, sits down, and uses it as a litter box. Right there in front of my granddad, who left him stranded outside all night. Brilliant!
An Email on German Appartments
Hello Regensburg Students 2004/05,
This year's students (03/04) are in the process of packing their bags and leaving Regensburg-sad at leaving Regensburg and looking forward to Colorado and Arkansas again- a real mixed bag of feelings...for me as well, it is always hard to say goodbye but at the same time I am looking forward to next year as well.
Many of you have written already asking about dorm rooms and such. I will receive the list of rooms that we will have for next year from the 'Studentwerk' -the dorm administration tomorrow. Since a number of you have requested the same dorm it may be difficult to satisfy your request, (provided of course we even get a room in that dorm)- I can't put you all in one room
[Editors Note: Oh, yes you can...].
Therefore I will have to leave it to the luckof the draw- two hats, one with names, the other with dorm rooms. May lady luck be with you. By the end of the week I will have sent you an email with dorm assignments and instructions concerning your arrival in Regensburg.
Viel Glück wünsche ich Euch!!
steve
I just recieved this email about my living arragements for the next year. It should be interesting regardless! You'll have to wish me good luck in the drawing...
