Welcome to the Frozen North, land of industry, massive social safety nets, excellent salmon, Fjords, Vikings, and some of the most liberal people in the world. Too much fun - if only the beer wasn't so expensive.As much as Italy is Italian (the cuisine, the architecture, the people, the fashion), so are Oslo and Stockholm Scandinavian. The contrast from the hot South of Europe to the frozen North is dramatic. The cities here just feel different. Oslo, our first stop, felt like a wilder Seattle. Stockholm is more like a classical industrial city without the bustle. Buildings here are placed with deliberation and designed with reserved but classy style. Without a doubt the cleanest cities I've seen.
